Why did I bake a gingerbread version of the Mantua Castle?

Historic documents tell us about the sumptuous sweets placed on the tables of the Gonzagas, the Renaissance Lords of Mantua: cakes baked and iced in the form of castles, obelisks and fountains.

This year the City of Mantua has appeared on the scene of the “European Region of Gastronomy” and, to mark the Festive Season, VISITMANTUA has reinvented the ancient Gonzaga tradition, making a gingerbread version of the Mantua Castle.

Christmas is a time of giving, so here’s your “Free Gingerbread Castle Template”: enjoy in the baking and icing, as I did!

And, if you want, share your results on Instagram, tagging @visitmantua in your posts.

[And, for your information: yes, this gingerbread version of the Mantua Castle has been designed, baked and iced by Lorenzo Bonoldi, your guide in Mantua]
